As a marriage celebrant who’s been around the block once or twice (or thrice!), I’ve gotten to know some of Western Australia’s most beautiful wedding venues. I consider myself very lucky indeed that I’ve been in the presence of true love more than once and have seen that love blossom in the bosom of these wonderful wedding spaces.
If you’re asking yourself, “Are any of these wedding venues near me?” Yes! Here, you’ll find my picks for the best wedding venues I’ve seen in Perth and greater WA, all of which can host you no matter the size of your ceremony or budget, whether you want to go over the top or would prefer looking at inexpensive wedding venues.
Kings Park
There are so many fantastic wedding ideas I’ve got spinning in my head – being a marriage celebrant will do that to you! However, there’s something to be said about the “classic” wedding ceremony. By “classic”, I mean an elegant setting surrounded by lush greenery, the kind that really makes a bride’s dress stand out!
With that in mind, Kings Park is one of the best wedding venues for ceremonies, both big and small. It’s not exactly a hidden gem, but it is a dazzling and gorgeous jewel of a location thanks to its lush scenery and beautiful views of Perth. The Dryandra Lookout gives you a gorgeous overlook of the bay, while Marlee Pavilion includes a beautiful gazebo which is just begging to be the setting of your “I do’s”!
For those couples who not only wish to celebrate their love but the place where it first manifested as well, Kings Park is a great choice (and one of my personal favourites as well)! It’s both homely and elegant in equal measure and is bound to be a location you won’t forget. After all, I never have!
Cottesloe Beach
I may be from Swan Valley but I sure do love the beach! When I picture the perfect wedding ceremony – (as if there were such a thing!) – the beach is never far from my mind. Outdoor wedding venues, like Civic Centre in Cottesloe, are always at the top of my list!
What can I say? I’m a romantic at heart, and what screams romance louder than saying “I do” as the sun sets over the ocean, casting glimmering rays of scarlet and cerise on you and your beloved and forever enshrining your love in the gentle waves on the shore. Be still my beating heart!
There are plenty of outdoor wedding venues along Cottesloe Beach that could make the perfect setting for your ceremony. I’m partial to the North Cottesloe Beach coastline, which gives you that authentic beach ceremony experience, sand between your toes and all, but the Arch Monument and Sundial are just as gorgeous. The Civic Centre also features a Secret Garden that is just perfect for outdoor wedding ceremonies.
No matter your choice, your ceremony is sure to be beautiful, intimate, and memorable when you elope to Cottesloe Beach. It’s one of the nicest small wedding venues around.
Swan Valley
My darling place of origin, Swan Valley, is known for its lush vineyards and a never-ending supply of local wine and breweries, which make it the perfect winery wedding destination for an intimate, rustic wedding.
It’s only a 25-minute drive from Perth, so this dream destination will save not only you but also your guests on the travel expenses that are typical on your big day. This also makes it easier to celebrate one of the happiest days of your life surrounded by the ones you love, which is why we have ceremonies in the first place!
There are plenty of great venues in Swan Valley! Mulberry Estate sits in the heart of Swan Valley, surrounded by rolling hills and Swan River itself. Its vast open spaces and luscious greenery provide the perfect backdrop for your dream farm wedding vibe.
Then there’s the Vines Resort which features scenic vineyards as well as a more modern undercover ceremony venue and dining hall. The resort also provides plenty of room for other luxurious activities such as spa packages, golfing facilities, and even hen parties, making it a great place to enjoy the full wedding experience.
Other gorgeous spots in Swan Valley include Nikola Estate, a stunning vineyard with its own beautiful rustic restaurant; Oakover Winery, another gorgeous vineyard suited for more modern tastes; and Barrett Lane, a unique function centre pretty much hand-made just for your special day!
Perth City
There’s no need to stray far from home when you live in the vibrant city of Perth. Whether you’re looking for a modern rooftop or something a little more eclectic, Perth City gives you a little taste of everything. With such a variety of dream destination venues to choose from, you have the option to either escape the city or embrace it!
Starting off with The Bell Tower, this awe-inspiring venue sits right on Swan River and overlooks Perth’s stunning city skyline. This one-of-a-kind wedding venue is bound to set you apart from every other bride and groom in your contact list. I highly recommend hosting your big day in late January to ensure the most perfect sunsets for your ceremony backdrop.
For a more naturalistic twist to your city wedding, take a look at Queens Garden! This enchanting scene teleports you into a dream world like no other. With the perfect balance between pristinely manicured and tastefully overgrown, Queens Garden creates a fairytale world straight out of a storybook.
Other fantastic locations include Point Fraser, which features boardwalks, grasslands, and a stunning lake that looks gorgeous when it catches the sun at dusk; and the Perth Town Hall, which features beautiful rustic architecture and a large, open atrium perfect for your reception.
